FAQs

At Bound in Stitches, we know that there may be a question that you need an answer to.  We have compiled our most common asked questions below.  If you have a question you do not see listed, please feel free to contact our store.  We are here to help you!

Website Questions

  • Do you design your own patterns?
Yes!  Recipe Quilts™ is our exclusive pattern company designed by Michelle Johnson. Our patterns are only available at Bound in Stitches.
  • What is the minimum amount of fabric I can order from your website?
Our minimum cut of fabric on our website is one yard. When you purchase yardage from our website, it will be continuous yardage.  What this means is if you order 3 yards of fabric, it will come in a 3 yard piece and not three 1 yard cuts.
  • Do your kits have fabric substitutions?
No, no and definitely NO! We do not substitute fabrics from the sample we created.  We believe that you liked what you saw and that is the reason for your purchase.  We have heard too many stories of our customers purchasing a kit from someone else and it didn’t have the fabric that they loved in it.  Our store does not operate this way.  Never have, never will.

If a designer has clearly listed the fabrics, you can be rest assured that our kits will have those fabrics in the kit.  Regarding quilts we have made and chose specific fabrics for, the kits will contain those same prints.  This is our product promise to you!
  • Can I check out as a guest?
Yes! Choose the Continue as Guest option when you add items to your cart and click Checkout button.
As a reminder, creating an account is a time saving way to order.
  • Why doesn’t my discount code work?
Our first question to you would be: did you find it online?

There are many websites out there that claim to have Bound in Stitches coupons.  While it is flattering that other sites choose to post about us, we do not have any control over what they choose to say.  The discount codes posted to websites like those aren’t generated by us and they don’t work on our website.

If your discount code came from us, it will either be by snail mail (you know the type that gets personally delivered to your mailbox) or by email.  If it’s not working, please give us a call at 320-255-9021 or send us an email at customercare@bound-in-stitches.com and we will do our best to help.

Product Questions

  • What are Precuts?
Precuts are pieces of fabric that have been cut to a specific size. This helps the quilter be able to get to the sewing process sooner.  Precuts come in many different sizes and it seems each fabric company has chosen a different name to call them.  Precuts come in 2-1/2” squares, 5” squares, 2-1/2” strip sets, 10” squares and panels to name a few.  One of the benefits to precuts is that you can get a variety of different colors, textures and designs in one grouping.
    • To make our site the most convenient for these different cuts of fabrics, we have them listed by their size and the most common name out there for them in parenthesis. We felt this would be the easiest way for you to shop!
  • What is a “fat quarter”?
A fat quarter is a piece of fabric that measures approximately 18” x 21”. It is a very convenient cut of fabric in comparison to a ¼ yard cut of fabric.
    • You can cut larger pieces from a fat quarter.
A ¼ yard cut of fabric is 9” x WOF (width of fabric). This means that the largest cut you can make is 9”.  With a fat quarter you can cut pieces larger than 9” since it is 18” x 21”.
    • There are many patterns and books that are “fat quarter friendly”.
Many designers choose to make patterns from this specific cut of fabric.
    • On our website, on the left side under Project Type, we have listed “Fat Quarter Friendly” books and patterns for your convenience.
  • What is a fabric “Panel”?
A fabric panel is a single piece of fabric which is sold individually and not be the yard. They typically feature a large single motif or multiple motifs.   Panels can be used in quilts as well as cutting up the individual motifs for placemats, pillows, potholders, etc.  Panels that have a baby theme can be used to make a quick baby quilt by just adding a couple of borders on them to fit a crib.  Panel sizes range from 23” x 44” to 44” x 44”.
